I grew up watching my mother sewing and my father fixing things around the house. When I was 12 I asked my mother to teach me how to sew. I was always my father’s helper when it came time to fix something. Little did they know at the time that together they were preparing me for my second career as a Drapery Workroom Owner.

I have a degree in mathematical science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Heels! My first career was computer programming at IBM. I would satisfy my creative side after work sewing and creating many projects.

When I moved to Asheville in 1996 I left programming behind and opened my workroom. Since then I have been fabricating custom draperies, curtains, bedding, pillows and almost anything for your house that can be made with fabric. I do light upholstery like chair seats, and leave the upholstery and slip-covering to the experts.

I have evolved to a full-service workroom offering measuring, estimating, expediting, fabricating, and installing. I also sell drapery hardware, drapery lining, pillow inserts, blinds and shutters. I work mostly to the trade, but I also accept retail customers.

About the only thing I don’t do is select your fabric. I’m happy to recommend a number of local designers to help you with your design directions if you want professional design advice.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, hiking and geocaching with my husband, two daughters and two dogs.
